Nigeria has again secured a place on the global business map as two Nigerian-born entrepreneurs, Adebayo “Bayo” Ogunlesi and Tope Awotona, were named among America’s richest immigrants in 2025, according to the latest ranking released by Forbes magazine.

The annual list, published by the US-based business publication, profiles 125 immigrant billionaires from 41 countries who have built their fortunes in the United States. The edition highlights the growing influence of foreign-born entrepreneurs in shaping the American economy, with Nigerians earning notable spots.

According to Forbes, Bayo Ogunlesi ranked 77th on the list with an estimated net worth of $2.4 billion. Ogunlesi, a seasoned investment banker and private equity executive, is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a firm that has played a major role in infrastructure investments across airports, energy, and transport systems worldwide.

Also featured on the list is Tope Awotona, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Calendly, a widely used scheduling software company. Awotona ranked 106th, with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion. Calendly, which simplifies meeting scheduling for individuals and organisations, has grown into a global tech brand used by millions across different continents.

Forbes noted that many of the individuals on the list are self-made billionaires who built their wealth through innovation, long-term investment, and resilience. The publication added that immigrant entrepreneurs now account for a significant share of the United States’ billionaire population, contributing extensively to job creation and economic growth.

The inclusion of Ogunlesi and Awotona further reinforces Nigeria’s reputation as a source of global business leaders, particularly in finance and technology. Their success stories reflect the increasing impact of Nigerians in international boardrooms and innovation ecosystems far beyond the country’s borders.

For Nigeria, the recognition goes beyond personal wealth. It underscores how Nigerian talent continues to shape global industries, from infrastructure development to software solutions, and strengthens the narrative of Nigerians excelling on the world stage in 2025.
