CAF, the Confederation of African Football, has officially postponed the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Libya and Nigeria.
As earlier reported by Naijassadors, the match was initially scheduled for this evening in Libya. However, a statement released by CAF, confirmed that the game would no longer proceed as planned.
CAF did not provide a clear reason for the sudden postponement, leaving fans and teams uncertain about the cause. The football body indicated that the matter would now be referred to its “competent bodies” for further evaluation.
“The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Qualifier fixture between Libya and Nigeria will not take place as scheduled tonight,” the brief statement read. Relevant CAF authorities will take up the issue further.
While fans of both nations are left disappointed by the postponement, they eagerly await further updates from CAF on when the rescheduled match will be held. For now, the decision marks a delay in both countries’ road to securing qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament, hosted in Morocco.
