To honor the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the Nigerian government has mandated that all flags at home and in diplomatic posts abroad fly at half-mast on September 11 and September 12.
The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, announced this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
He said,
“We commiserate with the government and the people of the UK and all the affected people of the Commonwealth and the global community”.
“The Queen is dead, long live the King”, he added .
On Thursday, news of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing was released (Sept. 8).
She served as monarch of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms from February 6, 1952, until her passing in 2022.
Her 70 years and 214 days of reign were the longest of any British monarch. Her reign was also the second-longest of any monarch of a sovereign state.
