English Premier League side, Liverpool lost their UEFA Champions League opening match 4-1 to Italian side, Napoli on Wednesday.

The last season’s finalists were favourites to pick all three points from Naples but slumped again this season.

Liverpool was also tipped to finish Group A winners but started embarrassingly on Wednesday.

Liverpool looked off defensively, and Napoli played to tear it apart, winning the first half 3-0.

Every time Napoli went forward, they looked to score. If the Italian side had scored six in the first half, it would only be a fair reflection of the game.

The defeat is one of the worst for Liverpool in the Champions League under Jurgen Klopp and it exposes Liverpool’s disjointed backline.

Jurgen Klopp stated after the game that the team wasn’t compact defensively and offensively.

Liverpool face Wolves on Saturday in the domestic league and might look to bounce back from the walloping in Naples.
