It is no longer news that President Muhammadu Buhari seems to have made up his mind to extend the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, possibly by six months according to some media reports. The IGP was officially billed to retire from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on January 3, 2019, given that he has attained the mandatory 35 years in service.
There have been calls from different quarters that the IGP should no longer serve but as it is, the President has allowed him to continue to enjoy the perks of the office. Is this a questionable act or is the president at liberty to allow anyone he wants, based on certain parameters, to continue to serve the country?
Is the opposition crying wolf where there is none or are they are justified to cry?
