On Saturday, July 27, 2024, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah died in a hotel in London, United Kingdom, where he had travelled two days prior to spend some summer time with his family.
Shortly after the news of his death broke, a photo circulated on social media showing Ubah with his wife and children after touching down in the UK last Thursday.
Reports also emerged that the lawmaker had embarked on the trip to seek medical care for an undisclosed illness.
Regardless, his death came as a shock to many Nigerians, especially his family and colleagues in the upper legislative chamber.
Reacting to the tragic event in a statement on Saturday, Senate Spokesman, Yemi Adaramodu, described the deceased as a committed public servant, whose untimely demise constitutes a significant loss to the Senate and the nation at large.
Until his death, Ubah represented Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly and was touted to be eyeing the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the governorship election in the state in 2025.
He was a successful business mogul and philanthropist who touched many lives through his Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation.

i. He was the winner of Ananra South Senatorial Election in 2019 after losing Gubernatorial election in Anambra state in 2014.
ii. He escaped assassination by gunmen in 2022 that claimed the lives of 2 policemen.
iii. He was an exporter of Motor Tyres and Spare Parts majorly in West African countries like Ghana, Liberia and Congo. And later expanded to European countries like Belgium and UK.
iv. He was the founder of The Authority Newspaper, a daily Nigerian newspaper.
v. He was the owner of Ifeanyi Ubah FC. a Nigeria premier league football club.
vi. He ran a foundation named after him; Ifenayi Ubah Foundation.
vii. He died of Cardiac arrest in London, July 21. 2024
