A political analyst, Japheth Omojuwa, has stirred fresh debate ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently on a “clear path” to victory, with little visible resistance from opposition parties.

In a strongly worded post on social media on Saturday, Omojuwa likened the political landscape to a race nearing its conclusion, with Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima portrayed as frontrunners approaching the finish line unchallenged.

According to him, while the APC leadership appears focused and coordinated, opposition figures are yet to settle on a unified direction or candidate, a situation he suggested has left them trailing behind at a critical moment.

Omojuwa argued that internal disagreements and lack of cohesion within opposition ranks have weakened their ability to mount a credible challenge.

He further claimed that some prominent figures in rival parties may have already shifted focus beyond 2027, treating the election cycle as a formality rather than a competitive contest.

Drawing comparisons with sports, the commentator said the opposition’s current posture resembles teams that have effectively conceded defeat early in a season, turning attention elsewhere while awaiting an inevitable outcome.

The comments come amid ongoing realignments and strategic positioning across Nigeria’s political landscape, as parties begin early manoeuvres ahead of the next general elections.

While the APC continues to project confidence in its reform agenda under Tinubu’s leadership, opposition parties have repeatedly pledged to regroup and present a stronger challenge.
