Nigeria, in recent times, has been bedeviled with different security threats in different parts of the country. From the activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the North East to the militancy in the Niger Delta, from Fulani herdsmen menace in the Northcentral to different cases of armed robbery in the south-west, there have been hues and cries of the effect of these devastations.
Just recently, the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo spoke about the need for State Police. Now, while this has been the call from various quarters in the past, the federal government seem to have come to the realization that this is the way to go.
It must be said that some people have expressed their reservations about this idea based on the high-handedness of some of our politicians especially the state governors who they think will completely take over the apparatus of the state police.
So what do you think? Should we begin to practice State Policing or not and why?
